Country: spain/UK

  • Child Marriage, Harmful Practices, The Legalisation of Abortion, Sex Workers’ Rights, Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation

  • Marina is a development practitioner and passionate feminist who is notably interested in advocating for groups whose Sexual and Reproductive rights are often neglected. Previously focussing on women’s rights more broadly, her journey in SRHR began when she was ghosted by her employers in Argentina for advocating for the legalisation of abortion in 2019. She has since spoken in several women’s day marches, and written articles for feminist magazines on the expectations forced upon women and gender stereotypes. She is proudest of her article on Chhaupadi, published in the United Nations Association for Spain. Marina holds a Master of Science in International Development, which she completed through conducting first-hand research on eve-teasing in Vijayawada City. As a researcher for Polygeia during her postgraduate degree, she researched how telehealth could help improve people’s access to post-abortion care in remote areas. She recently finished an internship with the Policy and Strategy Division of the United Nations Population Fund and is also a volunteer policy analyst for Women for Women International.

  • Besides SRHR, Marina a proud Global Youth Ambassador of TheirWorld, and former UK Youth Ambassador for The ONE Campaign. Originally from Barcelona, she has lived and worked in Spain, the UK, the US, Belgium, Argentina, France, and China, the latter in which she worked for Habitat for Humanity as Group Leader for schools.
