Jean completed her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Women’s Studies at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Both her academic work and activism have been focused on sexual health, and gender justice.
Over the past years Jean has been working as the Administrative and Volunteer Coordinator at the South House Sexual and Gender Resource Centre, a local resource and gender justice centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and as the Executive Director of a sexual health centre in rural Nova Scotia. Both of these organizations have a strong focus on youth and youth-led initiatives, and gave her hands-on experiences in anti-oppression organizing, and organizational management. Jean has also volunteered with Stepping Stone, the Maritimes’ only organization that provides harm-reduction services to street-based sex workers.
