Relevant Experience

Harpreet is a passionate action-orientated advocate for gender justice, racial justice and sexual and reproductive health and rights. She is the Treasurer of the Board of Directors and Australia’s Member for YCSRR.  She has eight years of voluntary and leadership experiences with not-for-profit organisations, government, and high-level advocacy locally, nationally and international. Committed to the progress of gender equality, meaningful youth participation in decision making and ending the stigma of social issues. Harpreet’s experience in the advocacy space is diverse including New South Wales Council of Social Services Young Women’s Policy Adviser, Multicultural Youth Advocacy Network Youth Ambassador, Australian Student Environment Network NSW State Convenor, GetUp Climate Justice Fellow, Macquarie University Women’s Collective President,  Foundations of Young Australian’s Young Social Pioneer, Women Deliver Young Leader and Breaking the Taboo founder. She represented Australia at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women at United Nations headquarters for 3 consecutive years and at Women Deliver. Harpreet was a part of the successful campaign to Decriminalise Abortion in NSW and has various public speaking experiences including as a keynote speaker at youth forums in Australia as well as experiences Chairing and leading Climate Justice Rallies in Sydney.

Harpreet has various public speaking experiences including as a keynote speaker at youth forums in Australia, speaking on and facilitating panels, as well as experiences Chairing and leading Climate Justice Rallies in Sydney. She is studying a bachelor’s in International Relations and Gender Studies and is determined to break cycles and social taboos, ending the shame, silence, and stigma on mental health, homelessness, and gender-based violence. In her spare time, she loves to write, dance, spend time with loved ones and herself.
