Prior to joining the YCSRR, Ani was an associate with the Association for Women's Rights in Development (AWID), working across several teams in her 3 years with the organization. Having begun as website moderator for AWID’s Young Feminist Activism Program, she maintained a strong youth focus within all of her subsequent roles with AWID, from governance to communications.
Ani has also been part of the UN-INSTRAW/UN Women (Dominican Republic) Gender, Peace and Security team, researching under the frameworks of UNSCR 1325 and security sector reform with a strong focus on gender-based violence. In 2007, Ani spent a year with the Women’s Resource Center (Armenia/Nagorno-Karabakh), an organization she is affiliated with to this day in support of young feminist activism projects, including access to sexual and reproductive health services and information.
Ani holds an MA in Gender and Peace Building from the United Nations mandated University for Peace (Costa Rica) and a BAH from Queen's University (Canada), where she studied Politics and English Literature with a strong gender/feminist focus.
