Amit Timilsina is a youth activist, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Gender activist and has been advocating on these issues for over 7 years locally, nationally and also at regional and international platforms. Amit is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Public Health at University of Southern Denmark as Danish government recipient. Over the years Amit has worked to gain expertise around issues including SRHR, HIV and AIDS, gender, Comprehensive Sexuality education (CSE), human trafficking and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Amit currently serves as International Youth Steering committee member for Asia Pacific Conference on Reproductive and Sexual Health and Rights (APCRSHR). He is also a member of Asia Pacific Alliance. Amit also served as the President (2016-2018) of YUWA, one of leading youth organization in Nepal and served as a focal point with the Right Here Right Now (RHRN) international consortium for YUWA, coordinating 15 platform member organizations working for CSE, Marriage Equality and Safe Abortion in Nepal. He worked for a year as Program Manager for Centre for Awareness Promotion working on human trafficking issues working for violence survivor and those working at Adult Entertainment Sector (AES) to end modern day slavery. He also worked on action research project with Ujyalo Foundation as Program Lead. He has also worked as a Project Coordinator in Peer Education on CSE supported by the Asia Pacific Resource and Research Center for Women (ARROW) coordinating the Youth Activists Leadership Council Amit has worked as an Assistant Program Officer in the field of SRHR working on the I understand HIV project with the MTV Staying Alive Foundation. He has advocated at the national, regional and international levels, including at the Asia Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) 2017 where he delivered the opening statement on behalf of Asia Pacific youth. Similarly, he also participated in International AIDS conference 2018 and is a member of International AIDS Society. He is also Women Deliver Young Leader 2018 from Nepal. He also contributes in evidence generation through his research, articles and blogs.
Amit enjoys writing Nepali poems, reading novels, travelling, and watching and playing games.
